Sarlahi DDC padlocked indefinitely

District Development Committee (DDC) staffers padlocked their office indefinitely from Sunday demanding appointment of Local Development Officer (LDO) at the earliest. They said that a meeting of the staffers decided to padlock the office after the government failed to appoint LDO. Development works here have been adversely affected since long in the absence of the LDO . "There is no meaning of opening the office without the LDO," said an employee. The post has been lying vacant for four months

Villagers defy curfew

BARA: At least 50 demonstrators were injured when the police charged them with batons, fired tear gas shells and bullets for defying a curfew order here at Kachorba village on Thursday. Charandev Jayasabal of Kachorba VDC was shot in the leg. He is undergoing treatment in a local health post. Eyewitnesses said the police fired more than 100 tear gas shells. Bara CDO Taranath Gautam said the curfew had been clamped and security personnel were deployed to prevent a clash between a contractor and villagers. The curfew was clamped from 11 am. Nine persons were injured in a clash that ensued over fishing in a pond on Wednesday.

Chure Bhawar to withdraw support

Kathmandu, 26 October: The Chure Bhawar Rastriya Ekata Party Nepal warned of withdrawing support in 15 days if the government doesn't immediately resolve the problem, reports Janadisha daily. In a press statement issued by the party on Friday, Chure Bhawar has alleged that the government was not serious in regard to resolving the problems. The party has appealed to the political parties not to delay in drafting the constitution. The party warned that it would take the support of the people if activities continued against the people and national interest.

MJF blocks transportation at Sarlahi

SARLAHI, Oct 11 - Activists of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) obstructed the Sarlahi road section of the East-West Highway on Sunday putting forth two demands.

They have demanded to scrap the "false" case filed against district chairman Ashok Yadav and investigation into the irregularities at the District Education Office.

Vehicular movement came to a standstill for two hours since 10 am.

An employee at the District Education Office, Shiv Shankar Kuswaha, has lodged a case against Yadav stating he assaulted him. However, the MJF has said a minor dispute and clash occurred while interrogating about financial irregularities.

Govt staff strike continues in Sarlahi

SARLAHI, Oct 7 - Civil servants in Sarlahi did not report to their works for the third consecutive day on Wednesday protesting the recent assault on their colleague by activists of Madheshi Janadhikar Forum (MJF). The agitating government employees say they would not resume their works unless the people behind the attack on Shivshanker Kushawaha, accountant at District Education Office, are booked. On Sept. 26, MJF activists had assaulted Kushawaha over the issue of teacher appointment. Police did not arrest them despite a complaint by the victim.
