RAUTAHAT, June 16 - Protesting government's lassitude in implementing previous agreement, Chure Bhawar Rastriya Ekata Party has called for an indefinite transport strike at areas near Bagmati Irrigation Project starting Tuesday.The Project lies along the East-West Highway at Rautahat-Sarlahi border in Karmaiya.
It has accused the government of failing to implement the seventh point of the nine-point agreement signed with the then Peace Minister Ram Chandra Paudel in August 21, 2008, which states the constructional work and other contracts related to gravel and stones would be made working in tandem with the Chure Bhawar Party. Chure Bhawat Party activist Birendra Kumar said the protest will continue until the office for disbursement of works and contracts for Bagmati Irrigation Project is shifted from Kathmandu to Sarlahi. Meanwhile, Chure Bhawar Party cadres threatened to burn the Kantipur vehicle bound for Rautahat from Bharatpur, Chitwan carrying newspapers.The activists have accused Kantipur of not featuring the 'Bhawar strike' along with photograph in the national daily.
Also today, residents of Gaindatar, Chandranigahapur thwarted transportation in the district and padlocked the administration office of the local electricity office protesting against failure to supply electricity in the village. Speaking on behalf of the villagers, local Raju Daami said the authority did not put into service the agreement it signed earlier.
Representing the electricity authority, Head of the department Anjani Kumar Mishra, signed an agreement with the denizens of the village on March 30, 2008 last year to electrify the village by Nepali month Jestha.
